Dragoș Ileana is a Clinical Psychologist, Psychotherapist and Board-Approved Clinical Supervisor with 25 years of experience across public, private and community mental health settings in Australia and internationally. He brings extensive experience working with complex mental health presentations, psychological trauma, relationship difficulties and the broader life experiences that shape psychological wellbeing.
Dragoș has held senior clinical and leadership roles within Queensland Health for more than 15 years and currently provides statewide clinical leadership in transcultural mental health practice. His career has included complex clinical practice, service leadership, clinical supervision, education and the development of psychological practice across Queensland. He is also an Adjunct Senior Lecturer with the Griffith University School of Psychology, where he contributes to postgraduate training in Clinical and Professional Psychology.
Dragoș takes an integrative and person-centred approach to therapy, recognising that psychological difficulties rarely exist in isolation from a person's relationships, experiences, identity, culture and circumstances. He places particular importance on developing a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship where clients can feel genuinely heard and understood, build greater insight into themselves and work towards meaningful and lasting change.
Depth, Insight and Meaningful Change
Dragoș believes that meaningful psychological change involves more than reducing symptoms. His approach helps clients develop a deeper understanding of themselves, their experiences and the patterns that may be shaping their emotions, relationships and wellbeing, creating the foundation for meaningful and lasting change.
A Safe and Collaborative Therapeutic Relationship
Dragoș places particular importance on creating a safe, trusting and non-judgemental therapeutic relationship. He believes that feeling genuinely heard, understood and respected is an important foundation for effective psychological therapy.
Through this collaborative approach, clients are supported to explore difficult experiences at their own pace, develop greater self-understanding and work towards changes that align with their values, relationships and the life they want to lead.
